During our National Nurses Week campaign shoot, we got the extreme privilege of chatting with eight incredible nurses. What started out as a routine video shoot, ending up being one of the most rewarding (and emotional) days the Jaanuu team has experienced on-set. These nurses made us laugh with their magnetic personalities, made us cry with their unfathomable strength, and left us feeling inspired and grateful. The world is truly a better place with these women in it. Get to know these ladies for yourself.
Thank you, Candy, Chelsi, Delta, Gilvanete, Lauren, Loni, Raquel, and Sarah for joining us.
Meet: Candy G., LVN
Title: LVN
Hometown: Huntington Beach, CA
Favorite part of being a Nurse: There are so many. When a patient tells you that you have saved their life or that they will change their lives because of you, it’s amazing. I work in detox, so often times, this is a new beginning for them. It takes one person to change a life and help them start fresh.
Meet: Chelsi D., MSN, RN
Title: Aesthetic RN
Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Favorite part of being a Nurse: The most rewarding part of my profession is being able to give a patient self-confidence. After their treatment, seeing them be more comfortable in their own skin is my favorite part.
Meet: Delta P., RN
Title: ER RN
Hometown: Hermosa Beach, CA
Favorite part of being a Nurse: I love my job. I love being in a children’s hospital. In the emergency department, people come and go, and it is fast-paced. But I enjoy witnessing the innocence of the kiddos – it is so sweet to see.
Meet: Gilvanete P., RN
Title: Interim Nurse Manager, RN
Hometown: Cerritos, CA
Favorite part of being a Nurse: Seeing patients get better. During Christmas, I got a phone call from a patient from the psych unit. She said “I wanted to call you and wish you a Merry Christmas. Thank you for all that you did.” That is so rewarding – that is why I love what I do.
Meet: Lauren M., RN
Title: ER RN
Hometown: San Juan Capistrano, CA
Favorite part of being a Nurse: Seeing my patients get better. Hands down, the most amazing feeling is when you see someone come in distressed, you implement an intervention, and then you see them get better. I really love what I do.
Meet: Loni C., RN
Title: Emergency Department Operations Manager, RN
Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Favorite part of being a Nurse: The moments when you feel like you’re in the right place, doing the right thing, and this is what you were meant to do. There are moments with patients and families that are so emotionally fulfilling – it’s really amazing.
Meet: Raquel M., RN
Title: Critical Care RN
Hometown: I grew up in Texas, but I am a travel nurse, so I am a nomad.
Favorite part of being a Nurse: Definitely, the grateful responses from families and patients.
Meet: Sarah C., RN
Title: ER RN
Hometown: Huntington Beach, CA
Favorite part of being a Nurse: The most rewarding part is helping people and actually feeling like you do make a difference. The hospital setting is not an easy place to navigate, and there is still plenty I don’t know about it, but it is so great to be able to help people.
Beautiful day . Thank you Jaanuu for giving us a opportunity to do such an amazing thing.
